Children's Ministry

Children’s Sunday School and Church

We also have several Sunday School classes for our children that integrate songs, arts and crafts and solid Bible teaching for a fun-filled hour of learning for the kids.

In addition to our children’s Sunday School program, we also offer a children’s church service that runs from 10:30 am until around 12:00 during the Sunday AM service. A snack time, a song time, some games and Bible lessons all weave together to help reinforce the lessons taught in Sunday School and give children application from God’s Word that is relevant for them.

Awana

During the school year our church runs an exciting Awana program that runs close to fifty kids.

AWANA is a Bible-based, Christ-centered program for children from pre-school through 6th grade ages. The word AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from the Bible verse, II Timothy 2:15: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

The goal of Awana is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve him. It is a great honor to serve God in this way and to lead children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The Oxford Valley Chapel AWANA program runs from September 5th through May 28th and we meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the fellowship hall, located in the bottom of our building. For more detailed information about Awana, be sure to check out our Awana section.

The Amazing Bible Race / Indoor Soccer League

The summers are also exciting times here at OVC. This year is our first indoor soccer league, and the turnout has been great! We help train the kids in soccer without all the high-pressure of a more formal league. Our goal is to get kids working together, having a good time and learning about God’s Word.

The Amazing Bible Race is a year-round program that will actually be incorporated into our Awana program. Everyone involved in the program is divided up into four teams where they compete not only against one another, but also with teams from around the country. With web-based games for the kids to participate in and online score tracking for the kids, their teams and the entire church, this program has really taken on a life of its own.
